Next Meeting
Just to be clear our next meeting is not next Tuesday 6 May since that is not the second Tuesday of the month. The next meeting is Tuesday 13 May. This is an important meeting and apart from a field trip our last meeting of the season.

During the first part of the session Gordon Allison ARPS will give us a presentation, the title of which is “A year in the life of a Professional Photographer”. As Gordon says, he proposes to give a wee insight into the work he’s covered over the last year, and the sort of tasks a working photographer gets called on to do along with his own thoughts on the challenges presented by each assignment. This is going to be a fascinating and illuminating session.

Gordon will then judge the best of this season’s images. The first and second placed images in each competition (monochrome and colour) have made it to the final. Gordon has been sent JPGs in advance (identified only by image title and resized to the same maximum dimension of 1400 pixels) so he will be able to make his professional and informed comments on each image and score them out of 20 … without fear or favour!

The images will be judged as projected images but in addition we will have a mounted A4 set of prints of the images on display boards for you to enjoy. At the end of the evening the trophies for best image (monochrome and colour) and highest total score in the monochrome and colour competitions throughout the season will be presented.

This promises to be a stunning evening to round off our season of formal meetings. So please do make every effort to come.

Field Trip 27 May
As many of you will know the final field trip of the year is planned for Balnagown Estate gardens, courtesy of Simon (and of course, Mohamed Al Fayed). It should be a great time of year with the gardens looking at their late Spring finest. So, again an important date to keep free. Details of the arranbements to follow.

Committee Meeting 19 May
If there are particular matters you would like your committee to consider at their next meeting do drop Andy a mail. Thank you to those of you who have already made suggestions about competition themes for next season and ideas for short technical sessions on taking photographs and processing them. There is still time to make them to Andy before the committee meeting. As requested at the AGM we will publish the selected competition themes shortly after the committee meeting so that you have plenty of opportunity to start putting together your potentially award winning images.

Field trip images
The Loch Brora field trip was not blessed with the best of weather but as photographers we like a challenge and challenge was what we had! Even so I have seen some images that rose to that challenge. Please send the images you are pleased with to Andy both for the Loch Brora trip and the upcoming Balnagown trip and early next season we will have a showing at a club night.
